Out In The Country

about

At one point in my life, I decided to buy some land. I was looking at ten acres to build on. I had lived in apartments virtually my whole adult life till then. I never ended up buying the 'land' . . . but I did end up writing this song right around that time.

lyrics

OUT IN THE COUNTRY

Born in the city, I still call this concrete ‘home’
But I’d like to start out someplace new
A one room apartment’s all the life I’ve really known
I think it’s time for me to move . . .

I want to live out in the country
Surrounded by trees
Out in the country
Sounds good to me
Something’s come over me,
and I don’t know what it is
I just want to live out in the country

I’ve spent too long in search of diamonds – for their shine
I should’ve grabbed my chunk of coal
I always thought that breathin’ deep was wastin’ time
Now I need something for my soul

I want to live out in the country
Surrounded by trees
Out in the country
Sounds good to me
Something’s come over me,
and I don’t know what it is
I just want to live out in the country

Something’s come over me,
and I don’t know what it is . . .
I just want to live out in the country
