WESTERN MOVIES We ride into town in the morning Being herded like cattle at dawn But I break from the gang Make a run for the bank Hand the teller a note, then I'm gone With the sun on my back I'm free at last To answer the call of the wild Just like in old Western Movies Where each day is a different plot I like to pretend I'm the hero But sometimes I'm more of an outlaw Just like in old Western Movies Later on the sun paints a picture As a backdrop for a rundown saloon I go in for a drink Pull out my six-string Start singin' the crowd's favorite tunes Then gone like the wind 'Fore the night came to an end I rode away with a smile Just like in old Western Movies Where each day is a different plot I like to pretend I'm the hero But sometimes I'm more of an outlaw Just like in old Western Movies Just like in old Western Movies Just like . . . ON THE RUN (THEY'LL NEVER CATCH ME) Damn the ones who won't stop tryin' to track me down Won't even let me catch my breath The poster said that they could take me in alive But I know they really want me dead I've got to keep on moving There's nowhere to hide Truth is I ain't no angel But there'll be no trial They've got me on the run But they'll never get my guns They're tryin' to take my gold But they can't steal my soul They'd like to see me bleed Or hanging from a tree But as long as my spirit's free - They'll never catch me Curse the day I ever learned to point a gun I've been in trouble ever since Spent my share of time on both sides of the law I must've killed a dozen men I just shot one too many That's how it goes I think I hear them coming They're getting close They've got me on the run But they'll never get my guns They're tryin' to take my gold But they can't steal my soul They'd like to see me bleed Or hanging from a tree But as long as my spirit's free - They'll never catch me They've got me on the run But they'll never get my guns They're tryin' to take my gold But they can't steal my soul They'd like to see me bleed Or hanging from a tree But as long as my spirit's free - They'll never catch me Written by Jeffrey Scott Stewart Copyright 2003 Blue Clover Music (ASCAP)

The Choice 03:38
THE CHOICE I killed a man in self-defense thirteen years ago His brother tracked me down and died, my fame began to grow Men sought me out to test their skill because they knew my name I did what I had to do, their blood spilled on my shame I had to run, I changed my name and moved from town to town Till a woman's love and tender touch made me stop and settle down Now here you come out of nowhere, trying to drag me through my past Standing there with your shaky hands, bragging that you're fast The choice is yours, make up your mind But if you draw your gun One of us will wind up Lying in the dust So will this be your dying day? It's up to you now boy I suggest you walk away While you still have the choice If you choose to draw on me, Ill shoot you full of lead Then I'll be on the run again, and just as good as dead Even if you are the best, there's no way you'll ever win 'Cause if I die, then it's your turn, to be killed or kill again The choice is yours, make up your mind But if you draw your gun One of us will wind up Lying in the dust So will this be your dying day? It's up to you now boy I suggest you walk away While you still have the choice While you still have the choice Written by Larry Vail and Jeff Stewart Copyright 1999 Larry Vail / Blue Clover Music (ASCAP)

CHEROKEE BLOOD Cherokee blood flowed like water in a red colored stream As I watched my brother dying at my feet I could hear the soldier's rifle when he gunned the young brave down And I knew a life was ended at the sound The soldier said, Injuns deserve to die, they have no fear of God I saw those savage eyes, just before I shot There ought to be a price paid for every drop of Cherokee Blood I was proud of my people We'd made peace with the whites Now I vowed not to die there without a fight - Not afraid to die, I had no fear of God I saw the soldier's eyes just before he shot There ought to be a price paid for every drop of Cherokee Blood I live on as a spirit in the heart of every brave I live through my children's children - in their veins Written by Jeffrey Scott Stewart Copyright 1996 Blue Clover Music (ASCAP)

Iron Horses 03:52
IRON HORSES They laid those iron rails out like veins across the heartland And never even bothered to bring ‘em close to us And everyone in my hometown, knew the end was coming We were left there to dry up, and blow away with the dust So I packed my bags and made my way to the closest station Then I watched it from a distance as it rolled across the plains And laid down my life savings for my first ride on a train And my whole world changed when I ran with iron horses ‘Cause I saw some things that I’d never seen before And nothing else mattered As I went further and faster ‘Cause I could see my future when I ran with iron horses When that first ride was over, it was only the beginning ‘Cause I had to find a job and I had no place to go I started working for the railroad early the next morning My first job was shoveling coal, to keep that fire stoked Well I worked my way up through the years, and even met my true love The best day of my life was when that woman took my name I proudly raised my family, and spent a lifetime on a train My whole world changed when I ran with iron horses ‘Cause I saw some things that I’d never seen before And nothing else mattered As I went further and faster ‘Cause I could see my future when I ran with iron horses Written by Jeffrey Scott Stewart and Bill Warrington Copyright 2006 Blue Clover Music (ASCAP) / Bill Warrington Music (BMI)

The Law 03:15
THE LAW I came to town when I got the word That the good people who claim this dirt Needed someone to keep them safe - A new sheriff to run this place They really couldn't ask for more . . . I was the fastest gun they could afford I'm The Law Don't you ever forget Who you're talkin' to . . . I'm The Law Show some respect . . . If you mess with me, you'll lose I've got a good horse and a steady hand And I'm doin' my best to defend this badge I'm only here to protect them now But men still scatter when I come to town I get paid to keep the peace But I still ain't found none for me I'm The Law Don't you ever forget Who you're talkin' to . . . I'm The Law Show some respect . . . If you mess with me, you'll lose I'm The Law Don't you ever forget Who you're talkin' to . . . I'm The Law Show some respect . . . If you mess with me, you'll lose 'Cause I'm The Law I came to town when I got the word That the good people who claim this dirt Needed someone to keep them safe - A new sheriff to run this place Written by Jeffrey Scott Stewart Copyright 2002 Blue Clover Music (ASCAP)

GHOST TOWN A tumbleweed rollin' down an empty street In the breeze, a faded sign reads "Vacancy" Love checked out long ago But we pretend that we don't know There's nothing left but memories and dust Ghost Town - I see reflecitons in the mirror Ghost Town - I hear what seems to be your laugh But we pass without a sound Like two spirits in a ghost town From outside, this place seems like it's full of life But it's a lie, 'cause anything we had has died why do we carry on Behind this old facade Acting out emotion that once was Ghost Town - I see reflecitons in the mirror Ghost Town - I hear what seems to be your laugh But we pass without a sound Like two spirits in Ghost Town - I see reflecitons in the mirror Ghost Town - I hear what seems to be your laugh But we pass without a sound Like two spirits in a ghost town Written by Larry Vail, Craig Lackey and Jeffrey Scott Stewart Copyright 2000 Larry Vail / Sailing Smooth Music (ASCAP) / Blue Clover Music (ASCAP)

WHEN THE TWISTER TOUCHED DOWN If I could paint a picture of what I saw, it would all be black and white She was waiting in the stillness with a storm behind her eyes If I had heard a warning, I would have tried to change the way she felt But she was hiding her emotions, then like a train straight out of hell When the twister touched down The birds stopped singing And I wished that I could fly But I could only run for shelter And there was no place left to hide As our love came unwound - When the twister touched down I still have scars from when she left me, but I've come to realize How the words that went unspoken grew clouded in her mind She was angry, she was restless, and the winds began to blow Until she finally had to let loose, and the twister broke up our home When the twister touched down The birds stopped singing And I wished that I could fly But I could only run for shelter And there was no place left to hide As our love came unwound - When the twister touched down I guess she held it all inside as long as she could And in her silence I believed - and misunderstood But when the twister touched down The birds stopped singing And I wished that I could fly I could only run for shelter And there was no place left to hide As our love came unwound - When the twister touched down When the twister touched down Written by Jeff Stewart and Pam O'Daniel Copyright 1996 Blue Clover Music / Pam O'Daniel

DUSTY PIRATE I'm a dusty pirate, looking for the sea Sailing 'cross the desert, almost drowning in this heat Branded as an 'outlaw', but I'm just a desperate man Destined to keep stumblin' 'cross this God-forsaken land I pray for rain Curse the howling wind That whispers my name And says I won't be home again I'm ashamed That I am lost, but I admit I'm a dusty pirate Searchin' for my ship More than once I've found religion on the wrong end of a gun And I've almost died a thousand times 'neath this unforgiving sun Where rattlesnakes are serpents that appear between the waves Of rocks and dirt and sagebrush, at the cruelest time of day I pray for rain Curse the howling wind That whispers my name And says I won't be home again I'm ashamed That I am lost, but I admit I'm a dusty pirate Searchin' for my ship Longing for another place and time Struggling through my life and wondering why . . . I pray for rain Curse the howling wind That whispers my name And says I won't be home again I'm ashamed That I am lost, but I admit I'm a dusty pirate Searchin' for my ship Written by Jeff Stewart Copyright 2001 Blue Clover Music (ASCAP)

SURVIVOR I'm a lonely rider Still, I'm a survivor and I'm not goin' down I am not pretending Life is never-ending, but it's not ending now I know this to be right . . . What doesn't kill me makes me strong And I'm way too tough to die It's gonna be a long, long ride It's gonna be a long, long, long, long ride There's no use complaining If it starts to raining and i'm hungry and cold I might have been mistaken But this path I'vetaken is the one that I chose I know this to be right . . . What doesn't kill me makes me strong And I'm way too tough to die It's gonna be a long, long ride It's gonna be a long, long, long, long ride If I had a chance to start over again I'd prob'ly choose to head straight into the wind I know this to be right . . . What doesn't kill me makes me strong And I'm way too tough to die It's gonna be a long, long ride It's gonna be a long, long, long, long ride 'Cause I have the heart to survive I'm a lonely rider Still, I'm a survivor and I'm not goin' down Written by Jeffrey Scott Stewart Copyright 2001 Blue Clover Music (ASCAP)

MY SHORT-LIVED LIFE OF CRIME I dug into my dresser drawer Wrapped my fingers around my ol' forty-four And headed out into the cold night air I'd lost my job at the factory Left my wife and boy without enough to eat And that was more than I could bear I said, it's a hold up, it's a robbery Give me the cash and don't follow me But both of us had fear in our eyes In my short-lived life of crime Your daddy was the clerk that night And he did what he knew was right He tried to grab my shakin' gun But a shot rang out and the better man fell I knew right then that I'd lost myself When I saw what I had done I said, it's a hold up, it's a robbery Give me the cash and don't follow me But both of us had fear in our eyes In my short-lived life of crime Now I'm wearin' denim for the rest of my life And half the time, wish I wasn't alive But I deserve even worse I killed your dad - wish he'd killed me Then there wouldn't be two broken families "Sorry" ain't a strong enough word I said, it's a hold up, it's a robbery Give me the cash and don't follow me But both of us had fear in our eyes In my short-lived life of crime - My short-lived life of crime - My short-lived life of crime Written by Jeffrey Scott Stewart and Mark "Moke" Cameron Copyright 2002 Blue Clover Music (ASCAP) / Mark Cameron

COWBOY LULLABY/CITY BOY DREAM Stars are all that light the sky Wind is whispering in the night All is peaceful in the valley The coyote sings a lullaby Only trees are around me I'm growin' tired - I close my eyes Tired minds they often dream Now it all comes back to me All is peaceful in the valley The coyote sings a lullaby Only trees are around me I'm growin' tired - I close my eyes Written by Jeffrey Scott Stewart Copyright 1980 Blue Clover Music (ASCAP)

about

This is a PREVIEW of this album! Most, if not all, of these recordings will be re-recorded before being added to the "final release" of the Western Movies album.

This is more or less a concept album. Pretty much all songs from the old west. The general story is that our main character heads out of town - on the way stopping to "hand a note" to the teller . . . is it a hold-up note - or a withdrawal slip? He then heads out of town on his adventure. Along the way, he falls asleep in motels, having dreams that are "just like Western Movies". Of course, each one is depicted by the songs on the album, up until he wakes up for the final time after having his "Cowboy Lullaby/City Boy Dream".
